Park Art Project

Painting and creativity with a mission

In 2018, I decided to funnel my love for supporting the creative arts into a simple effort: Park Art Project. The idea is to foster, support and create art that broadens community and benefits non-profits. In addition to volunteering and being personally involved in the arts, I donate 30% of profits to non-profits. The National Park Service was my initial target for giving.

Releasing art into the wild: "Found Art"

Occasionally, I leave a painting in a public place for anyone to take. Someone always does. It's wonderful to receive a note of thanks, a post on Instagram or a donation to support my work. I know each piece has a good home and believe it made someone happy.

Supporting communities

As a volunteer, collaborator and sometimes cheerleader, I make a point to consistently engage in some effort to foster art and artists. People often jump at the chance to explore their creative talents.

In Grand Teton National Park, I developed a program to help visitors paint simple watercolor mementoes (5 X 7 paintings) of iconic views. At home in Austin, I volunteer for arts programs and host other artists in my space for the annual Austin Studio Tour. One wall in my studio is covered with art I have purchased from other artists.
